Collections in both Colchester and Ipswich continue to be enriched through donation, purchase and field collection.
All material is acquired in accordance with the museum service’s Collecting Policies, which are available on this page as downloadable resources.
These are reviewed on a regular basis.

We are always filling gaps in the collections. We need to be careful and thoughtful however, about what we can accept – taking into account storage requirements, for example.
