Your Stories
Colchester + Ipswich Museums look after objects that tell the story of thousands of years of people living, working and playing. We need your help in recording the COVID-19 pandemic.
We want to know how your life has changed, what you’re thinking and what objects you’d show people to explain how you lived through this time.
Share Your Story
Volunteer for Colchester + Ipswich Museums to record your experiences of the COVID-19 pandemic. You might choose to record by taking photos on your phone, creating a scrapbook, recording a diary, creating crafts, paintings, drawings, videos, song writing… and anything else you can think of! You could record every day, once a week or just on important days.
You could volunteer as a group or by yourself. We want to hear from shopkeepers, families, students, medical professionals, delivery drivers, shop workers, teachers, all keyworkers, disabled people, LGBTQ+ people, people experiencing homelessness, people living in multigenerational households, people with mental health difficulties, refugees, people from migrant communities, people with long-term health problems, people who have been furloughed, farmer workers, young people, older people, people who have had major life events changed, kids, grown-ups, parents and you.
If you’d like to take part, get in touch for a chat by filling in the volunteer expression of interest form:

Share Your Rainbows
From kid’s paintings to crocheted crafts, chalk doodles on pavements to banners hanging outside businesses – Colchester and Ipswich are covered in rainbows. They can be seen decorating walls and windows as a symbol of hope, positivity and togetherness. Rainbows are a way we can express our thanks to key workers and connect with our community, whilst we’re distancing.
Colchester + Ipswich Museums are asking people to share their rainbows with us via social media, or get in touch to have a chat about donating their rainbows once the pandemic has finished. You can do this by completing the above online form and one of our team will be touch.
